As a Senior Vice President and Legal & General Counsel, Rutger Prakke's main responsibility is to make sure that all legal issues which might have an impact on Booking.com are flagged in time and dealt with appropriately. This includes ensuring that the Booking.com website complies with local legislation in the more than 220 countries and territories in which the website and mobile apps are available.
As global head of both the Legal and Public Affairs departments, his teams are also charged with drafting and maintaining contracts with the company’s accommodation partners, affiliates and customers, as well as protecting the Booking.com brand internationally.
Rutger came to Booking.com in 2008 from a background with some of the Netherlands’ leading law firms. Between 1999 and 2008, he worked, first as a partner and later as Chairman and CEO of KienhuisHoving, one of the largest law firms in the eastern part of the country. Between 2002 and 2008, he acted as outside counsel for Booking.com and in 2005, he advised shareholders in the sale of their Booking.com shares to what is now Booking Holdings Inc.
