Reconnect with Nature with a Relaxing Farm Stay

Whether looking to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty or simply escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, staying in a relaxing farm stay is a great way to reconnect with nature. We delved into our more than 28 million listings in over 133 destinations around the world to unearth great farm stays for the whole family. Appealing to almost a quarter (24%) of global travelers* who said they are likely to take an agricultural or farm stay trip in 2018, swap the conventional family beach holiday or bustling city break and embrace what the quiet countryside has to offer. The fresh air activities on a working farm will ensure a great night’s sleep and beautiful unspoiled landscapes.

Tuscany, Italy

Surrounded by picturesque vineyards with panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside, Borgo di Casagrande is a charming 16th-century farmhouse, offering a pool-side garden and rustic, spacious apartments. Cooking lessons and wine tours are available on site and you can even purchase home-grown olive oil and wine.

Grand Canyon, United States

Set on a working ranch is the impressive Grand Canyon Western Ranch, where you can stay in cozy cottages and enjoy horseback riding and wagon rides. During your stay, book a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, sample authentic western-style cooking by an open fire and drink and dance to the live cowboy entertainment.

Margaret River, Australia

Located on an idyllic 15 hectare farm with a vineyard, winery, avocado orchard and vegetable gardens is the Burnside Organic Farm. During your stay, make friends and feed the animals on site, including chickens, pigs and geese and pick fresh vegetables and herbs from the garden. The farm offers self-contained solar-powered bungalows, boasting a fully equipped kitchen, spa bath, a fireplace and private barbeque facilities.

Oudtshoorn, South Africa

De Zeekoe Guest Farm is located along the world’s longest wine route, Route 62, and is surrounded by the serene Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains. This South African farmhouse is the perfect setting for outdoor activities and wildlife explorations to keep the whole family entertained. Cool off in the salt-water swimming pool before savoring home-grown, organic produce and local specialties such as ostrich and venison. You can explore the vast farm grounds and interact with wild meerkats, try mountain biking or hiking, or a spot of fishing and canoeing.

Clare, Ireland

For something a little different, take a trip to Burren Glamping for a unique farm stay experience in a vintage horse truck, transformed into a cozy accommodation equipped with a wood burning stove and bathroom facilities. This glamping truck is located in the middle of a farm full of rare breed free-range pigs, cattle, donkeys, dogs and cat, hens and ducks.
