Chinatowns Around the World to Celebrate Chinese New Year

Chinese New Year (Gong hei fat choy – Chinese New Year greeting in Cantonese) - also known as Spring Festival, is a time of festivities and feasts, taking place all around the world. Festivities begin on 4th February and end on 26th February, with the actual Chinese New Year taking place on Friday 12th February 2021. During the three weeks, celebration is split into 3 parts: little year (which is a time for preparation), spring festival (12th to 22nd February) and the iconic lantern festival (23rd to 26th February).

While celebrations won’t be quite the same as in past years, there is a chance that you’re not too far from celebrating the year of the Ox. With a mission to make it easier for everyone to experience the world, we share some of the top Chinatown destinations around the world to celebrate Chinese New Year, as endorsed by Booking.com travelers*, once it is safe to do so again.
